Located on the stunning Waiheke Island in New Zealand, Batch Winery is a destination not to be missed. The winery is home to two picturesque vineyards: Thomas Vineyard and Margaret Reeve Lane Vineyard.
The Thomas Vineyard, established in 1998, covers 3.5 hectares of land and is planted with Chardonnay, with small parcels of Syrah and Pinot Gris. Situated on Carson’s Hill, the vineyard has a steep north-facing aspect and is planted in low fertility, iron-rich clays. These clays are produced from weathered ancient Jurassic bedrock, giving the wines produced from the vines planted in them a unique character. The site is diverse, with multiple aspects that create wines with intensity and complexity. The maritime salt-laden winds that blow through the vineyard also bring Umami flavors to the wines, adding another layer of complexity.
The Margaret Reeve Lane Vineyard, established in 2006, is a 2-hectare vineyard with mature plantings of Syrah and Bordeaux varieties. The vineyard has a steep north-facing aspect, providing the perfect conditions for growing these varietals.
In addition to the vineyards, Batch Winery also boasts a relaxed island-style restaurant that is perfect for sharing a meal with family and friends. The menu features carefully crafted dishes made from fresh, healthy, and local ingredients, and includes unique options prepared on a Josper charcoal grill that add a smoky, juicy flavor to the meats. When paired with Batch’s outstanding wines, the dining experience at the winery is truly exquisite.
For those looking for a special venue for their wedding, Batch Winery is an excellent choice. The team at the winery is dedicated to making sure each wedding is a day to remember for a lifetime, and works hard to bring together all of the couple’s dreams for the special day.
The commitment to excellence at Batch extends to the winemaking process as well. The winery’s team is passionate about producing high-quality wines, and works hard to manually farm the land and overcome the challenges that nature throws their way. The result is a range of distinctive, complex, and concentrated wines that truly speak to the diversity of the soils, character of the vines, and dedication of the team.
Visitors to Batch can enjoy wine tastings and food and wine pairings with the winery’s ambassadors, or go on a special barrel tasting and winery tour with the winemaker to get an inside look at the production process. The cellar door and restaurant offer breathtaking views, making it the perfect place to fully immerse oneself in the Batch experience. So why not make a day of it and enjoy all that Batch has to offer?

a year agoBeautiful winery, highest in the island I believe! We came here for lunch. Enjoyed drinks outside before hand, unfortunately they ran out of cider. Food was high quality, and luxurious. Service was good however we asked to be notified when our table was ready but was not. Also wish they had more umbrellas outside to sit under. Stunning views and venue was beautiful. Would recommend to others!

a year agoGreat balance between casual and sophisticated. The interior is absolutely gorgeous, heaps of plush cushions and accent lighting. There’s also a fireplace so ideal place during winter for a glass of wine and chocolatey dessert. The women who served us was fantastic and even though we just ordered drinks we were still made to feel very welcome. Great experience 🍷

8 months agoNice lunch with local wine from their vineyard. Open-air but covered seating with gorgeous views of Waiheke Island and Auckland in the distance. After lunch we took the rest of our bottle of wine outside to enjoy on beanbag chairs on the lawn, soaking in the view. Highly recommend!!

a year agoOnly here for a wine tasting blanc di gris fantastic. Beautiful atmosphere and great venue spot for weddings. Can't rate food as we didn't have any, but they do know how to pair their wines with mini tasting snacks.
