A Blend of Tradition, Innovation, and Passion in La Rioja

Nestled in the picturesque town of Navarrete, amidst the sprawling landscapes of Spain’s renowned La Rioja wine region, lies Bodegas FYA. A family-owned gem, this winery and hotel gracefully blends traditional winemaking methods with innovative practices, symbolizing the heart of La Rioja’s wine heritage.

Founded in 2004 by Carlos Bujanda, a distinguished fourth-generation winemaker of the Rioja region, Bodegas FYA is more than just a winery. It’s a testament to the legacy and passion of a family deeply rooted in the art of winemaking. Carlos named the winery in honor of his family, drawing initials from his name, that of his wife, Yolanda Yagüe, and their son Alejandro.

A Wine Lover’s Paradise

The winery’s prime location on the slopes of the Sierra del Moncalvillo mountains presents breathtaking views and an ideal setting for grape cultivation. Spread over 100 hectares, the vineyards are rich with Tempranillo, Garnacha, and Viura grape varieties. Adhering to traditional practices, the wines are aged to perfection in oak barrels. However, what sets Bodegas FYA apart is its dedication to “Tradition and Innovation.” This motto is a nod to the winery’s undying spirit of embracing age-old methods while constantly evolving and experimenting with novel techniques.

Bodegas FYA has consistently been recognized for its exceptional wines, clinching awards from prestigious platforms like the Decanter World Wine Awards and the International Wine Challenge.

A Journey Beyond Wine

The allure of Bodegas FYA extends beyond its exquisite wines. The property is also home to a magnificent museum of pottery. This museum stands as a tribute to Navarrete’s illustrious pottery-making heritage, showcasing a staggering collection of over 850 pottery artifacts, some of which date back to the 16th century.

For those seeking a more immersive experience, the winery offers diverse wine tourism packages. Visitors can embark on enlightening winery tours, indulge in tastings of award-winning wines, or enjoy sumptuous meals at the hotel’s restaurant. With 40 beautifully appointed rooms and suites, each offering unparalleled views of the vineyards and the Sierra del Moncalvillo mountains, the hotel promises a stay drenched in luxury and nature.

Sustainability at its Core

Bodegas FYA’s commitment isn’t limited to just winemaking. The winery takes significant strides in ensuring its processes are sustainable. Employing techniques such as rainwater harvesting and utilizing solar panels, the winery steadfastly reduces its environmental footprint, making it a beacon of responsible winemaking.

Conclusion

Bodegas FYA is more than a destination; it’s an experience. A harmonious blend of age-old traditions, innovative practices, and a family’s unwavering passion, this winery stands as a beacon for wine enthusiasts and tourists alike, beckoning them to partake in the rich tapestry of La Rioja’s wine culture.

We had the pleasure of staying at Bodegas FyA Hotel after a last-minute change from our previous accommodation, and it turned out to be the best decision of our vacation! We absolutely loved everything about FyA. The rooms were not only nice but also incredibly comfortable, providing us with a perfect retreat after our daily adventures. The staff was exceptionally helpful and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. A highlight of our stay was the bodega tour with Roxana, which was both informative and enjoyable. We also highly recommend the tasting lunch—it was a delightful culinary experience that beautifully showcased the local offerings. If you're looking for a fantastic place to stay, Bodegas FyA Hotel is a must-visit! We can’t wait to return.

Best hotel of our trip in the north of Spain. The great tour of the bodega, very good wines, delicious lunch (with wines included!) and the Friday summer night garden party: it was perfect. And of course the very nice and helpful staff! Thank you, we will be back soon.

Great value when booked directly with the hotel. Includes a tour (English available), spa time (reserve in advance ASAP) and excellent buffet breakfast. What I appreciated is that while some of the details weren’t perfect, they addressed them and found a solution. I was particularly happy with the treatment from Andrea at the front desk.

We booked FYA Hotel for a relaxing getaway, with plans to enjoy some wine, use the gym, and unwind at the spa. Upon arrival, we were informed that the spa was out of service, which was a major letdown. I inquired about scheduling gym time and was told it wasn't necessary since the hotel wasn't fully booked. However, when I went in the morning, I was told the gym was full and I couldn't use it. This meant no gym and no spa. Additionally, the hotel restaurant was closed during our entire stay, adding to our disappointment. Overall, it was a hugely disappointing experience.

We booked directly with them for an offer of accommodation, breakfast, 45 minutes spa session and winery tour with tasting. The hotel looks very good, elegant style, nice lighting. All the staff was nice, both reception ladies and the lady that did the wine tour. The breakfast was delicious and very varied with a great view. We enjoyed the spa as well, small area with gym, jacuzzi and sauna, warm and clean. The winery has many cool parts, it includes exhibits as a ceramics museum and also wine making museum. The prices for the wine are good. It was cold in the room, around 19 degrees, the room needed 2 hours to get warm and the bathroom was too cold anyway. The overall price was a bit high (4 stars hotel and many services, however). Maybe a bit of cheese at the tasting?
