Located on the stunning Waiheke Island in New Zealand, Batch Winery is a destination not to be missed. The winery is home to two picturesque vineyards: Thomas Vineyard and Margaret Reeve Lane Vineyard.

The Thomas Vineyard, established in 1998, covers 3.5 hectares of land and is planted with Chardonnay, with small parcels of Syrah and Pinot Gris. Situated on Carson’s Hill, the vineyard has a steep north-facing aspect and is planted in low fertility, iron-rich clays. These clays are produced from weathered ancient Jurassic bedrock, giving the wines produced from the vines planted in them a unique character. The site is diverse, with multiple aspects that create wines with intensity and complexity. The maritime salt-laden winds that blow through the vineyard also bring Umami flavors to the wines, adding another layer of complexity.

The Margaret Reeve Lane Vineyard, established in 2006, is a 2-hectare vineyard with mature plantings of Syrah and Bordeaux varieties. The vineyard has a steep north-facing aspect, providing the perfect conditions for growing these varietals.

In addition to the vineyards, Batch Winery also boasts a relaxed island-style restaurant that is perfect for sharing a meal with family and friends. The menu features carefully crafted dishes made from fresh, healthy, and local ingredients, and includes unique options prepared on a Josper charcoal grill that add a smoky, juicy flavor to the meats. When paired with Batch’s outstanding wines, the dining experience at the winery is truly exquisite.

For those looking for a special venue for their wedding, Batch Winery is an excellent choice. The team at the winery is dedicated to making sure each wedding is a day to remember for a lifetime, and works hard to bring together all of the couple’s dreams for the special day.

The commitment to excellence at Batch extends to the winemaking process as well. The winery’s team is passionate about producing high-quality wines, and works hard to manually farm the land and overcome the challenges that nature throws their way. The result is a range of distinctive, complex, and concentrated wines that truly speak to the diversity of the soils, character of the vines, and dedication of the team.

Visitors to Batch can enjoy wine tastings and food and wine pairings with the winery’s ambassadors, or go on a special barrel tasting and winery tour with the winemaker to get an inside look at the production process. The cellar door and restaurant offer breathtaking views, making it the perfect place to fully immerse oneself in the Batch experience. So why not make a day of it and enjoy all that Batch has to offer?

This is probably the third time we've been to Batch Winery. The view on top of the hill is breathtaking and the food is always delicious. We all loved the fresh oysters which are locally sourced from western part of Waiheke. The baked Hapuka fish were juicy and tender. The chefs were very good at keeping the original flavor of the food and none of the dishes were salty or spicy. The service was especially good from the beautiful girl who attended our table. She was very warm and helpful. The overall experience was excellent and my family loved the 2020 Legacy white wine. Highly recommend!!!

21 sept 2025 If I remembered correctly, I liked the 2020 and 2023 legacy chardonnay, under the Thomas legacy tasting. The oysters and herb bread were fantastic. I wasn’t a fan of the beer battered oysters. Ollie was great. Although we don’t know much about wine, he still took time to explain to us and did not discriminate. Hi Ollie, it’s us from Malaysia!

Batch Winery is one of the most popular vineyards on Waiheke Island, and you can quickly see why. The views are absolutely amazing from here. The staff is very friendly and the food looked absolutely delicious. Too bad we already ate before, but next time we would love to try the food.

We went for a wine tasting, which was fantastic, and ended up getting a vegetarian sharing platter. It was extremely generous. Worth going for the views which are epic. Beautiful design and setting.
