The Prisoner Wine Company is a Napa Valley-based winery known for its bold and unique blends. The company was founded in 2000 by winemaker Dave Phinney, who set out to create a wine that would break the mold of traditional Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The result was The Prisoner, a blend of Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, and other varietals.
The Prisoner Wine Company’s vineyards are located in some of the best wine-growing regions in California, including Napa Valley, Sonoma County, and the Sierra Foothills. These vineyards are known for their rocky, well-drained soils and warm, sunny climates, which are ideal for growing grapes. The winery uses a combination of traditional and modern techniques to craft its wines, including hand-picking and sorting of grapes, small-batch fermentation, and aging in French oak barrels.
The Prisoner Wine Company is best known for its flagship blend, The Prisoner, which is a rich and complex wine with notes of dark fruit, spice, and vanilla. The wine is made from a blend of Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Charbono, and other varietals. The wine has a strong reputation and has won many awards including being on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 wines list several times.
In addition to The Prisoner, the winery also produces a number of other wines, including Saldo, a Zinfandel-based blend, and Cuttings, a Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend. The winery also produces a range of single-varietal wines, including Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The Prisoner Wine Company is committed to sustainable and responsible winemaking. The winery has implemented a number of measures to reduce its environmental impact, including using drought-tolerant grape varieties, implementing a water recycling system, and using solar power to generate electricity.
In conclusion, The Prisoner Wine Company is a Napa Valley-based winery known for its bold and unique blends. Its flagship wine, The Prisoner, is a rich and complex wine with notes of dark fruit, spice, and vanilla. The winery also produces a number of other wines, including Saldo, a Zinfandel-based blend, and Cuttings, a Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend, and is committed to sustainable and responsible winemaking.

a week agoPrisoner Wine Co Team: Thank you for a flawless private event last night for Kevin's birthday and Everest celebration. From arrival to goodbyes, every touch point was handled with care and skill. Kevin said it best: “It was one of the best nights of my life.” Specific moments we loved: -Seamless entry and sign-in that set a warm tone. -The Makery looked “absolutely amazing,” and your addition of the big screen and speakers for the video was beyond exceptional. -Beautiful florals that elevated the room. -The overall setting was beautiful and felt “perfect.” -The Prisoner's incredible wines served throughout the evening -The signed six-liter bottle from Steph Curry’s vineyard, brought up from the cellar and poured for guests—such a thoughtful and unexpected surprise. -Attentive hospitality throughout. Please also thank your chef and the kitchen staff. The menu was creative and delicious, and the extra care with gluten-free dishes meant our guests could relax and enjoy everything. That attention made a real difference. You exceeded expectations. The planning, communication, and on-site coordination were exceptional, and it was evident in the smiles of our guests all night. With heartfelt thanks

3 weeks agoOur host Roberto was absolutely amazing!! Highly recommend the dim sum pairing and tasting. We were able to try multiple other wines thanks to Roberto. I ended up joining the three bottle per quarter wine club. Thank you Prisoner for an incredible family experience.

4 months agoRoberto is the BEST! We had a blast with him and his amazing dry humor. He had so much knowledge to share with us, so not only did we taste some vineyard exclusive wines, but got an amazing pimento cheese spread. It was such a fun ambiance and everyone from beginner wine lovers and savants were there. Thank you Prisoner!!

4 months agoI would like to give the Prisoner wine company a 4.5. We had a fantastic time here. The architecture is visually pleasing, and the pimento cheese paring with our tasting was SO good. I would literally come back just to order it. I love the art inspired crackers that paired with it. The wines were also very well balanced. Even though they source their grapes versus owning the vineyard, the wines are top quality. Natalia was our host, who we throughly enjoyed. This place felt a lot like home for us, with a very comfortable vibe for locals to aspiring artists. It deserves a lot of credit for producing such an amazing balance of comfort, high end art/architecture, food pairing, and wine quality. You should definitely put this one on your list while visiting Napa!

She was attentive and explaining everything in detail, she made the tasting so much fun and enjoyable. The service here is above and beyond. I would come back just to visit this winery again! We will be buying exclusively from them!
