The Prisoner Wine Company is a Napa Valley-based winery known for its bold and unique blends. The company was founded in 2000 by winemaker Dave Phinney, who set out to create a wine that would break the mold of traditional Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The result was The Prisoner, a blend of Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, and other varietals.
The Prisoner Wine Company’s vineyards are located in some of the best wine-growing regions in California, including Napa Valley, Sonoma County, and the Sierra Foothills. These vineyards are known for their rocky, well-drained soils and warm, sunny climates, which are ideal for growing grapes. The winery uses a combination of traditional and modern techniques to craft its wines, including hand-picking and sorting of grapes, small-batch fermentation, and aging in French oak barrels.
The Prisoner Wine Company is best known for its flagship blend, The Prisoner, which is a rich and complex wine with notes of dark fruit, spice, and vanilla. The wine is made from a blend of Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Charbono, and other varietals. The wine has a strong reputation and has won many awards including being on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 wines list several times.
In addition to The Prisoner, the winery also produces a number of other wines, including Saldo, a Zinfandel-based blend, and Cuttings, a Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend. The winery also produces a range of single-varietal wines, including Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The Prisoner Wine Company is committed to sustainable and responsible winemaking. The winery has implemented a number of measures to reduce its environmental impact, including using drought-tolerant grape varieties, implementing a water recycling system, and using solar power to generate electricity.
In conclusion, The Prisoner Wine Company is a Napa Valley-based winery known for its bold and unique blends. Its flagship wine, The Prisoner, is a rich and complex wine with notes of dark fruit, spice, and vanilla. The winery also produces a number of other wines, including Saldo, a Zinfandel-based blend, and Cuttings, a Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend, and is committed to sustainable and responsible winemaking.

4 months agoGood winery to visit in Napa Valley (Santa Helena), you can choose where you want your tasting experience, indoor or outdoor. The Line Up experience was good, tasting products that are sold exclusively in the winery, not in the market. Johnathan explained the about the different wines they produce in their properties.

5 months agoThere was nothing that attracted my attention in particular. This winery was almost empty even on weekends. I think it's a bit of a red flag. On the other hand, the staff service was good. They were willing to explain about the wine.

7 months agoAmbassador Jonathon was fantastic in introducing me to a winery I had not previously heard of. The Prisoner Wine Company produces incredible wines and their cellar door is a modern, art filled experience. I was fortunate to taste several of their premium wines paired with delicious gourmet local products.

a month agoIf you’re into blends this is one place you will enjoy. This wine tasting has more of bar like atmosphere. It’s mostly indoors. Don’t expect outdoor/valley views.
