Robert Mondavi was born in 1913 in Virginia, Minnesota. He was the son of Italian immigrants who owned a small farm where they grew grapes and made wine. After graduation, he worked at various wineries in California before establishing his own winery, the Robert Mondavi Winery, in 1966.

The Robert Mondavi Winery is located in the heart of Napa Valley, which is known for its warm climate and fertile soil that is ideal for growing grapes. The winery has over 1,200 acres of vineyards in Napa Valley, as well as additional vineyards in other regions of California and in Argentina.
