Cave Spring Winery is located in the heart of the Niagara Peninsula, which is known for its fertile soil and unique microclimate that is ideal for growing grapes. The winery was founded in 1986 by Harry McWatters, who is known as a pioneer in the Canadian wine industry.
Cave Spring’s vineyards are located in the Beamsville Bench and Twenty Mile Bench regions of the Niagara Peninsula. These areas have a long growing season and a combination of hot summers and cold winters, which creates the perfect conditions for growing grapes. The winery grows a variety of grape varieties including Chardonnay, Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet franc.
Cave Spring is known for producing high-quality, award-winning wines that reflect the unique character of the Niagara Peninsula. The winery has won numerous awards at national and international wine competitions, including the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards. One of their most famous wines is the Cave Spring Riesling, which is known for its crisp and refreshing taste with flavors of green apple and citrus. The winery also produces a range of red and white wines, as well as sparkling wines.
The winemaking process at Cave Spring begins with the grapes being hand-picked and sorted to ensure only the highest quality fruit is used. The grapes are then gently crushed and fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve the delicate flavors. After fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels to add depth and complexity to the flavor. The winery uses a combination of traditional and modern winemaking techniques to create wines that are balanced and full of character.
In addition to producing high-quality wines, Cave Spring is also committed to sustainability and protecting the environment. The winery has implemented a number of eco-friendly practices, including using solar panels to power the winery, recycling water, and using natural pest control methods in the vineyards. The winery is also a member of VQA Ontario, which is an organization that promotes the production of high-quality wines in the province.
Cave Spring Winery is a respected and award-winning winery that is known for producing high-quality wines made from grapes grown in the unique microclimate of the Niagara Peninsula. Its commitment to sustainability and protecting the environment make it a winery that truly cares about the craft of winemaking.

4 weeks agoMy partner and I stumbled across this winery as we were taking a stroll through Jordan. We never expected to have the best wine-tasting experience ever. Patti graciously greeted us as we walked in, explained everything and let us pick our seats. Kristen was our host, she was pleasant, knowledgeable, professional, observant, funny and just an overall positive vibe. Surprisingly, I purchased three bottles, I couldn't leave empty handed. Great service and value. Top notch. The Real McCoy.

2 months agoWhat a lovely time spent with Linda and Kristen as we sipped some nice wines, learned about their origins and engaged in pleasant converaation. A very nice stop to make while in the area (and to find products to replenish the wine fridge at home!).

a year agoLovely winery and even better somm who was excellent at describing the wines and how their flavour and varieties makes them unique. I absolutely loved their Riesling! It was the perfect combination of mineral acidity and sweetness - I’ve never had anything like it before. A flight is $20 for four, which is also an excellent price.

6 months agoStopped by with some industry friends, and I was blown away by the quality of the wine and our sommelier Kevin’s breadth of knowledge and enthusiasm. He is truly a gem. Pinot Noir and Riesling were both stellar.
