Robert Mondavi Winery is a winery in Napa Valley, California that was founded by Robert Mondavi in 1966. The winery is known for producing high-quality wines using traditional wine-making techniques and state-of-the-art technology.
Robert Mondavi was born in 1913 in Virginia, Minnesota. He was the son of Italian immigrants who owned a small farm where they grew grapes and made wine. Mondavi developed a passion for wine at an early age and studied enology (the science of wine-making) at the University of California, Davis. After graduation, he worked at various wineries in California before establishing his own winery, the Robert Mondavi Winery, in 1966.
The Robert Mondavi Winery is located in the heart of Napa Valley, which is known for its warm climate and fertile soil that is ideal for growing grapes. The winery has over 1,200 acres of vineyards in Napa Valley, as well as additional vineyards in other regions of California and in Argentina. The winery grows a variety of grape varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Sauvignon Blanc.
The wine-making process at the Robert Mondavi Winery begins with the selection of the best grapes from the vineyards. The grapes are then hand-picked and brought to the winery where they are carefully sorted and crushed. The juice from the crushed grapes is then fermented in stainless steel tanks or oak barrels, depending on the type of wine being produced. After fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels for a period of time before it is bottled and released for sale.
The Robert Mondavi Winery produces a wide range of wines, including red wines, white wines, and sparkling wines. Some of the winery’s most popular wines include the Fumé Blanc, a dry white wine made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes; the Cabernet Sauvignon, a full-bodied red wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes; and the Pinot Noir, a medium-bodied red wine made from Pinot Noir grapes.
In addition to producing wine, the Robert Mondavi Winery also operates a visitor center where visitors can learn about the history of the winery and the wine-making process. The visitor center offers tours of the winery and tastings of the winery’s various wines.
Robert Mondavi passed away in 2008, but his legacy lives on through the Robert Mondavi Winery, which continues to produce high-quality wines using traditional wine-making techniques and state-of-the-art technology.

a year agoI visited on April 25, 2023, did the Vineyard to Table three course luncheon - spectacular food and wine pairings, and the chef did a perfect job accommodating my vegetarian diet. The wine was outstanding, the pours were extremely generous, and the history and the winery are legendary. Highly recommend!

a year agoGone are the days you can just pull up at a winery or tasting house without a reservation. We wanted to check out the grounds as we were early for another reserved tasting nearby. It’s beautiful and spacious. Though we were not able to go inside-the outside grounds were equally scenic and gorgeous
