Silver Oak Napa Valley is a winery located in the Napa Valley region of California, known for producing high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon wines. Founded in 1972 by Ray Duncan and Justin Meyer, Silver Oak has a long and storied history in the world of wine.
The founders of Silver Oak were inspired by the great Bordeaux wines of France and set out to create a similar style of wine in California. They believed that the Napa Valley had the potential to produce world-class Cabernet Sauvignon, and set about finding the perfect vineyards to grow their grapes.
Today, Silver Oak sources its grapes from two main vineyards: the Alexander Valley vineyard in Sonoma County, and the Napa Valley vineyard in Napa County. Both vineyards are known for their ideal growing conditions, with the Alexander Valley vineyard producing grapes with more structured tannins and the Napa Valley vineyard producing grapes with more fruit-forward flavors.
In terms of grape varieties, Silver Oak is primarily focused on Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery also produces a small amount of Merlot, which is used in its limited-edition “Twelve” wine, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
Once the grapes are harvested, they are taken to the winery for fermentation and aging. Silver Oak uses a combination of traditional wine making techniques and modern technology to produce its wines. The winery uses small, open-top fermenters to allow for maximum contact between the grapes and the skins, which helps to extract maximum flavor and tannins. The wines are then aged in oak barrels, which helps to round out the flavors and add complexity.
Silver Oak is known for its commitment to sustainability, and has implemented a number of eco-friendly practices at its winery. These include the use of solar panels to power the winery, a recycling program, and the use of natural pest control methods. These efforts have earned Silver Oak a “Green Business” certification from the Napa County Green Business Program.
Visitors to Silver Oak Napa Valley can tour the winery and taste its wines at the tasting room. The winery also offers a range of wine-related experiences, including food and wine pairing classes and vineyard tours.
Overall, Silver Oak Napa Valley is a top destination for wine lovers visiting the Napa Valley region. Its commitment to sustainability, along with its focus on high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon wines and its use of traditional wine making techniques, make it a must-visit for anyone interested in the world of wine.

5 months agoWe had no expectations and walked out with an amazing and memorable experience! It was an instant connection with David who was our wine sommelier or wine steward. He shared his extensive knowledge about the wines at Silver Oak, the making, the region, and much more. Additionally, we were happy to know that the top leadership nurtures the growth of all employees, and takes the time to get to know them. We were touched by this, and our huge round of applause to David Duncan for taking the opportunity to greet and meet his employees. David, is a humble and insightful gentleman with a wonderful disposition and is grateful and appreciative of the opportunities at Silver Oak. Jodie, the manager, I hope I spelled her name correctly, it was an honor to meet her. She too was a delightful person. Truly, she too sets the tone and a feeling of family with the team at SO.

4 weeks agoPretty disappointed. We walked up to the counter after already having a reservation, tried each of the two wines they offered, and that was it. There was not the hospitality, education, or relaxing atmospheres as the competitors but perhaps you get what you pay for since it is also the cheapest. The wine was good but if you’re looking for the type of experience where you sit back, relax, hear about the wines, etc. than look elsewhere. If you’re looking to stop, try two wines, kill 20 minutes and leave, this would be your spot.

3 months agoWe visited the Napa tasting room and did the food and wine pairing as a special wedding anniversary event. It exceeded our expectations. The wine was plentiful with two Napa vintages, an Alexander Valley vintage, two Twomey varietals and a pour of Timeless to finish things up. The menu was excellent - on par with any top notch restaurant that does food and wine pairings. Our hostess was very good, bringing her knowledge and energy to our group. The setting was a 6 person table in an upstairs room with access to the balcony. Each course was explained by the chef and there was no hesitancy to ensuring we had ample wine with the host gladly allowing us to revisit each varietal. Although I wouldn't call the experience "cheap," it was far more than we expected in terms of quality and quantity. Highly recommended.

9 months agoSilver Oak has a wonderful story of a tradition of incredible wine making. It may have been one of my favorite places of red wine we tried while touring the area. Delightful experience!

3 months agoAn absolutely phenomenal experience! Peggy was the best- I was so disappointed I booked 2 wineries too close together so I had to rush a little at the end and I honestly wish I just skipped the second one because it didn’t remotely compare. Peggy took the time to sit down and chat with us, learned what we liked, let us try other wines to taste the difference. She was incredible, so personable and made the experience 5+ stars. I plan to come back in the spring with my mom and 100% will be back to Silver Oak.
