Chimney Rock Winery is a Napa Valley estate with a rich history of producing exceptional quality wines. Founded in 1980 by Hack and Stella Wilson, the estate brought a love of wine and South African winery architecture to the Napa Valley. In 2004, the Terlato family had the opportunity to acquire the estate, and since then, they have worked to build on the foundation established by the Wilsons and advance the quality of every aspect of the winery and its wines.

The Terlatos have focused on sustainable and intelligent farming and grape growing, and they have employed a soft-handed and thoughtful approach to winemaking, led by Winemaker Elizabeth Vianna. The goal of this approach is to allow the unique and magnificent soil and fruit of the Stags Leap District to show themselves in their best light. Through this approach, Chimney Rock has built a reputation for consistently crafting unique wines that show a true sense of place.

In addition to their focus on sustainable and thoughtful winemaking, the Terlatos have also dedicated significant resources towards building a state-of-the-art winery. This facility allows the winemaking team to ferment each vineyard block separately and conduct small-lot experiments to fine-tune and further express the spirit of the Chimney Rock estate. The accompanying climate-controlled barrel rooms provide the ideal temperature and humidity for long-term aging of the wines in French oak barrels.

The vision and mission of Chimney Rock is to produce wines that are capable of standing shoulder to shoulder with the great and important wines of the world. To achieve this, the Terlatos have provided Elizabeth and her winemaking team with the vision, resources, and guidance to craft unique wines of exceptional quality. This commitment to quality is a cornerstone of the Chimney Rock estate and is exemplified by their dedication to sustainable and thoughtful winemaking practices.

The legacy of Chimney Rock’s founder, Tony Terlato, also plays a significant role in the winery’s commitment to quality. Tony was an icon in the global wine community and dedicated his career to making and sharing the great wines of the world. He passed away in June 2020, but his values and commitment to quality live on through the wines produced at Chimney Rock. His children and grandchildren are continuing his legacy by keeping his spirit and values alive with every bottle of wine they craft.

Chimney Rock Winery invites wine enthusiasts to be a part of its ongoing story and to experience the elegant wines that are the result of the winery’s dedication to quality and commitment to showcasing the unique character of the Stags Leap District.

I recently had the most delightful visit to Chimney Rock Winery. My husband, our dog, and I decided to spend a sunny afternoon tasting wines at this gorgeous winery. Opting to sit outside, we were immediately struck by the breathtaking beauty of the property. The wine tasting itself was exceptional. We sampled several wines, each more impressive than the last. The flavors were rich and memorable, truly showcasing the best of what Napa Valley has to offer. The staff was knowledgeable and passionate, making our wine tasting experience both educational and enjoyable. But the highlight for us, and especially for our furry friend, was the unique 'barkuterie' board they prepared for our dog. It was such a thoughtful gesture and just goes to show how much Chimney Rock Winery goes above and beyond to ensure all guests, including the four-legged ones, have a fantastic time. Overall, our visit to Chimney Rock Winery was nothing short of amazing. The combination of exquisite wines, stunning scenery, and exceptional service made our day unforgettable. I would highly recommend this winery to anyone visiting Napa, whether you're a seasoned wine connoisseur or just looking for a beautiful place to relax and enjoy some delicious wines. Don't forget to tip your host!

We visit Sonoma County/Napa quite often from Wisconsin. One of our favorite places to visit. This last trip was for my 60th birthday. We started the day at Chimney Rock. It was our lucky day getting Julian to do our tasting for us. He was beyond our expectations and we had the best experience. Not only are the wines outstanding but Julian took the wine tasting experience to another level. Thx for a great start to my big 6-0!!!

Very accommodating.. We had a person in our tasting group that was not going to join because he prefers white wines and Bob customized for him. Made all the difference in the experience for all of us... And Bob was fun to talk to and he kept it simple. We ended up becoming members and purchasing wines not a part of the original tasting because Bob let us try a few... And when we come back... We'll be requesting him!

Wow..Chimney Rock winery in the Napa Valley wine region.where do I start.First the place is beautiful. From the winery main building,to the surrounding vineyards,to the tasty room, to the courtyards in the back to the fountain in between, the place is so picture perfect.we did one incredible wine tasting with a charcuterie board consisting of candied nuts, assorted meats and various cheeses. It was all delicious. The wines were a collection of white wine, rosa a reds.Tge wines started out very smooth and neutral in taste and later tastes became more full and heavier to the palate. I particularly liked the Elevage red wine.Madison took great care and amount of time with us explaining the wines and which vineyard the wine came from and even background and history. She did such an amazing job and really spoiled us. No other winery on our stops teated us with such an amazing tasting experience. I highly recommend including Chimney Rock on any visit to Napa. Just remember you will need reservations.
