Etude Winery is a small, family-owned winery located in the heart of Napa Valley, California. Founded in 1981 by Tony Soter, a renowned winemaker and viticulturist, Etude is dedicated to producing high-quality, handcrafted wines that showcase the unique character of Napa Valley’s terroir.
Etude’s vineyards are located in the Carneros, Napa Valley, and Anderson Valley regions of California. These diverse regions offer a range of microclimates and soil types, which allows Etude to grow a wide variety of grape varieties, including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and Zinfandel.
At Etude, the focus is on producing high-quality, small-lot wines that showcase the unique character of each vineyard. To achieve this, the winemakers at Etude use a combination of traditional and modern winemaking techniques, including fermentation in small oak barrels, extended aging on the lees, and minimal intervention in the cellar.
Etude’s winemaking team is led by Jon Priest, a seasoned winemaker with over 20 years of experience in the industry. Under his guidance, Etude has earned a reputation for producing some of the finest wines in Napa Valley, with a particular focus on Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon.
In addition to its winemaking, Etude is also known for its commitment to sustainability and responsible winegrowing practices. The winery has been certified by the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance and is a member of the Napa Green Land, Winery, and Vineyard Certification Program.
Overall, Etude Winery is a leading producer of high-quality, handcrafted wines that showcase the unique character of Napa Valley’s terroir. With its focus on sustainability, attention to detail, and commitment to producing the finest wines possible, Etude has earned a reputation as one of the premier wineries in California.

a month agoWhen you first arrive at Etude Winery, you're greeted by the breathtaking beauty of the vineyard. The wines they offer are truly exceptional and are a testament to the winery's dedication to quality. However, the wine tasting experience itself leaves much to be desired. The tastings are conducted in a small barn that also doubles as their gift shop. Unfortunately, this space lacks any special decor or a view to complement the wines being tasted. It's a very simple setup that doesn't do justice to the stunning outdoor surroundings of the winery. Although the quality of the wine justifies some of the price, it's hard to ignore the disconnect between the exceptional wines and the underwhelming tasting experience. In order to truly reflect the overall experience, the pricing should be adjusted to better align with the quality of the setting and service.
