Mission Hill Family Estate Winery is a popular winery located in the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, Canada. Founded in 1981, the winery is known for its beautiful architecture and stunning views of the valley and lake.
The winery’s history dates back to the early 1980s, when the von Mandl family purchased a piece of land in the Okanagan Valley and began planting grapevines. In 1991, the family opened the Mission Hill Winery, which quickly gained a reputation for producing high-quality wines.
The winery’s vineyards are spread out over 1,200 acres and are home to a variety of grape varieties, including Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Pinot Noir. Mission Hill Family Estate Winery is known for producing a wide range of wines, including whites, reds, and sparkling wines. Some of the winery’s most famous wines include its Chardonnay, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The winery’s wine-making process begins with the careful selection of the grapes, which are picked by hand at the peak of ripeness. The grapes are then gently crushed and fermented, with the winemakers closely monitoring the process to ensure that the wines are of the highest quality.
Once the fermentation process is complete, the wines are aged in oak barrels to add complexity and depth of flavor. After aging, the wines are bottled and released for sale.

2 weeks agoThis is not your usual stop on a winery tour. This truly stunning spot requires hours to explore and appreciate. We opted to dine in the restaurant for the three course chef tasting menu with the reserve wine pairing, as well as a regular pairing. The meal offerings changes seasonally with what’s fresh, and I can truly say the chefs and servers are at the top of their game. This was a $350 bill before tip, and it was worth every penny, nearly three hours of dining, wining in the most beautiful place you can imagine… it’s a luxury experience we felt was worth every penny. You won’t want it to end. The only critique I could possibly find is we stopped passed the wine shop and tasting room before our reservation, and the sales person was quite pushy to get us out the door, as they closed in 20 minutes. A bit of a sour start to the evening, but the meal more than made up for it. A couple things to expect: parking is ample, the grounds are glorious so take your time to explore and take pictures before your meal, there are affordable and expensive bottles (so something for everyone), but maybe skip the gift shop if you have no interest in overpriced, kitschy items and $2000 luggage (I get this is a luxury place, but come on), you WILL need a reservation and you WILL need to put down a credit card to do so, it books up fast but we were able to get a table for the next day. 10/10 experience, will be raving about it to anyone who asks how my summer was. Cheers!

3 weeks agoRecently booked and attended the "Behind the Cellar Door" experience - $125 per person - not exactly a cheap experience. Overall, I personally found it to be worth the experience, and overall, had a wonderful time! Big shout out to Michael, our guide. He was not only knowledgeable, but was very pleasant throughout the experience. Despite only being on the job for a couple of months, he did a great job! I had noted that it was my wife's and I wedding anniversary and received a very nice card signed by the staff of the vineyard, which was very nice! The vineyard has beautiful grounds, good wine and a very nice small boutique like shop with nicely curated goods that wont cost you an arm and a leg. Big thank you to Michael for a great experience!

3 weeks agoMission Hill Family Estate Winery is, without a doubt, a must-visit when in Kelowna. From the moment we drove in, the grandeur of the place took my breath away. The splendid architecture feels like it belongs in a European countryside, with its tall bell tower, sweeping stone arches, and perfectly manicured gardens. It’s the kind of place that makes you slow down and take in every detail. The views are absolutely stunning – endless rows of vineyards rolling down to the shimmering waters of Okanagan Lake, framed by the surrounding mountains. We visited on a sunny afternoon, and the whole place felt like it was glowing. It’s not a huge property to walk through, so it’s a quick and pleasant stroll, but every corner offers a new vantage point or a perfect photo spot. I’d highly recommend planning your visit in advance, especially if you’d like to join a wine tasting or guided tour. It’s worth making time to sit, sip, and soak in the atmosphere. Mission Hill isn’t just a winery – it’s an experience that blends architecture, nature, and wine into something truly memorable. This is one of those rare places that stays with you long after you’ve left.
