Quails’ Gate Winery is a family-owned winery located in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, Canada. Founded in 1989 by Ben and Tony Stewart, the winery is now run by the second generation of the Stewart family.
Quails’ Gate is known for its stunning location, set on a bluff overlooking Okanagan Lake and surrounded by vineyards. The winery is named after the quail that inhabit the area and the gate that marks the entrance to the property.
The vineyards at Quails’ Gate span over 200 acres and are planted with a variety of grape varieties, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Gewurztraminer, and Merlot. The winery is also home to a small experimental vineyard where new grape varieties are tested.
Quails’ Gate is known for producing high-quality, expressive wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Okanagan Valley. One of the winery’s most famous wines is the Old Vines Foch, a bold, full-bodied red wine made from the Marechal Foch grape variety. This wine has received numerous accolades and is highly sought after by wine collectors.
In addition to the Old Vines Foch, Quails’ Gate is also known for its Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Riesling. The winery’s Chardonnay is a bright, fruit-forward wine with notes of citrus and green apple, while the Pinot Noir is a delicate, elegant wine with flavors of red cherry and spice. The Riesling is a crisp, aromatic wine with flavors of green apple and citrus.
Quails’ Gate prides itself on using traditional wine-making techniques and focusing on quality over quantity. All of the winery’s wines are fermented in small batches using natural yeasts, and many of the wines are aged in oak barrels to add depth and complexity.
In addition to its wine production, Quails’ Gate also operates a popular restaurant and tasting room, where visitors can enjoy a variety of local dishes and taste the winery’s wines. The winery also offers guided tours of the vineyards and winery, as well as wine education classes and events.
Overall, Quails’ Gate Winery is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in high-quality wine and beautiful, picturesque surroundings. Whether you are a seasoned wine connoisseur or just looking to learn more about the wine-making process, Quails’ Gate has something for everyone.

a month agoWe did a tasting of 4 estate wines each for $15/person. Between the two of us we managed to try all 8! The wines were tasty and nice to learn more about them. It helps to have some questions in advance. We stopped by the restaurant for happy hour after and it was delicious. Highly recommend.

4 months agoI had a wonderful experience with Mini! She was very personal and so bubbly! She is incredibly knowledgeable about each wine and offered insightful recommendations based on my preferences. Her friendly and approachable demeanor made the tasting session enjoyable and engaging. I left with a better understanding of the wines and some new favorites. Highly recommend her service for anyone looking to explore wines in a fun and informative way. She even gave suggestions on what to do around the winery such as checking out the picnic area.

a month agoThe receptionist was not very welcoming. They seemed disinterested and didn’t make much effort to greet us or answer our questions. It was a bit disappointing, as first impressions count. However, our wine sommelier was exemplary, where she introduced us each wine with such detail and passion, making us truly appreciate the craftsmanship behind every bottle.Absolutely outstanding wine tasting experience! Breathtaking views and an elegant atmosphere. If you’re looking for a memorable wine tasting experience, this is the place!

3 months agoMini, our host, was very friendly and knowledgeable when it came to pouring our wine selections. She explained the pros of becoming a member and was not pushy about trying to sell us on it. When pouring the wines Mini explained the tasting notes and gave pairing ideas, which was great. The view was beautiful and it was nice to be able to walk through the vineyard. We stopped at the Market for a bite to eat. It was a laid back setting with great food. They had wood fired oven pizza - which sadly we didn't get. We weren't too hungry, but the pizza looked great. We split a sandwich which was fantastic and a refreshing lavender lemonade. The hostess at the entrance was friendly and was able to get us into our tasting earlier than what I booked, which was nice. All in all, it was a great experience and we will definitely be back!

2 months agoI recently visited Quails' Gate Winery, and after a less-than-ideal experience during our previous visit, I was hesitant to return. However, LARK completely transformed our experience this time around! From the moment we arrived, her warm and welcoming demeanor set the perfect tone for the day. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure we had an exceptional time. Her genuine passion for the winery and dedication to customer service truly made all the difference. Thanks to Lark, our perception of Quails' Gate has been completely restored, and we can’t wait to return. Highly recommend! Couple with the baby and H Sandles :)
